• 75%
75% of pool inspectors report shutting down a pool within the past two years. The top reasons for these closures were inadequate chlorine, pH issues and turbidity.
      • 36%
36% of survey respondents reported that hotel/motels have the most water quality violations. "Apartment complexes" was the next highest response at 25%.
        • 50%
The occurrence of a recreational water illness (RWI) was met with pool shutdowns of one day 50% of the time. The other 50% required a shutdown of two or more days.

        The Cost of Being Closed

There is a wide range of costs that go into operating a commercial pool. Some of the most difficult to calculate are those that arise due to a forced shutdown. The economic cost alone is tough to quantify. But the intangible costs caused by damaged reputation and loss of patron confidence are immeasurable. That gives you all the more reason to help prevent such a situation from occurring in the first place by relying on the VersaChlor system’s predictable chlorine delivery.

        Cyanuric Acid Facts

The serious health issues surrounding cyanuric acid buildup in pools using trichlor can’t be ignored. Here’s some basic information everyone in the commercial pool industry should know*:

        • Cyanuric acid (CYA) is also known as stabilizer. (Note: Chlorine products that contain cyanuric acid are referred to as stabilized chlorine products.)
        • It’s used in pools to protect against the sun’s UV rays, which destroys chlorine.
        • Too much CYA, however, causes a reduction in chlorine’s effectiveness and therefore increases the amount of time it takes to kill bacteria.
        • CYA does not get consumed, but rather accumulates in pool water.
        • In trichlor tablets, it’s actually bound with chlorine so as tablets dissolve, CYA accumulates and reduces the potency of the chlorine.
        • Some states advise against using CYA at all or restricting its ppm limits for use only in specific outdoor water venues.
